About Me
Hi! I'm Jewel.
I can confidently say I was born to be an artist. In middle school, I got my first set of art supplies and spent many nights drawing or tinkering in Adobe Photoshop until the sun came up. I completed a set of illustrations that won awards and recognitions from Fairfax County and Scholastics in high school, and using that portfolio I enrolled in Virginia Commonwealth University to study Communication Arts where I graduated in December 2024.
Presently, I design and create creative content for small businesses and brands in Richmond, Virginia. With my decade of experience in fine art and illustration, I was able to kickstart a career in graphic design which I have been diligently working in for 2 years.
My design philosophy is simple: make designs that spark joy. In an age of constant digital noise, I wanted to go back to the basics. I studied Bauhaus, the golden ratio, and Japanese design principles. I went outside and studied people, what they wore, their conversations, what they loved and feared, what they were drawn to. The average person sees 5,000 ads a day. To make something truly unique is to understand and have awareness beyond the digital landscape, rooted in everyday practices, meditation, and the intuition that only comes with years of putting graphite to paper.
